We have so much going on over the next two weeks! It is going to be a fun time at Chateau La Vin! Here are the details.
Today’s Tasting!
Ron and Keith are traveling this week so unfortunately they will not be here for Jazz Night. They will be back next Thursday! So today we are tasting a new Pinot Gris, Cab and red blend!
Joel Gott Pinot Gris from Oregon ($16.99) – The Joel Gott Pinot Gris has aromas of white peach, orange blossom and kaffir lime. Crisp acidity on the front of the palate leads to a vibrant, refreshing mouthfeel rounded out by minerality.
Charles Krug Cabernet Sauvignon from California ($21.99) – Our Peter Mondavi Family Cabernet Sauvignon provokes aromas of black cherry, raspberry and a hint of cocoa. Flavors of black currant mingle with rose petals while supple, smoky overtones visit the back palate. A silky mouthfeel and balanced tannins create an elegant finish to this classic Napa Valley wine.
B Side Red Blend from California ($37.99) – Many of you have tried the B Side Cab. Now let’s try the B Side Red Blend. In crafting the 2010 B Side Napa Valley Red Wine Blend, winemaker Greg Kitchens used 5 different varietals from over 7 sub-appellations. The wine opens with a heady bouquet of black cherries, dried plumbs, blackberries and peat moss. One’s first sip is greeted by a flavorful cacophony of black currants, dried blueberries, and Blackstrap molasses with hints of black pepper and toasted coconut emerging on the finish. This full-bodied wine is lush and rich with finely integrated tannins, yet it also shows impeccable balance. If Cabernet Sauvignon represents the “A” side of Napa Valley, then this artfully blended wine demonstrates just how great the “B” side can be. 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 16% Syrah, 11% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc.
Halloween Hi-Jinks on Historic Main Street!
Saturday, October 27th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Bring your kids to Historic Main Street where the businesses will participate in a great Trick-Or-Treat tradition! Chateau La Vin will have plenty of candy to pass out for the kids! For the adults we will have some warm Broomstick Brew for you to sample! After the trick-or-treating, head over to CHS to cheer on the Eagles in their first round of the playoffs!
Halloween Night!
We are planning a great Halloween night at Chateau La Vin! Let’s have a Halloween Party for the Adults! Dress up in your scariest costume and head over for some special treats! We will have a costume contest with the best costume winning The Wine Globe Bottle Top Aerator! I’d love to give away a bottle of wine, but Illinois law does not allow that. Mark your calendars to be here on the 31st!
Meet the Artist!
You have seen her artwork in the shop. On Sunday, November 4th from 2:00 – 5:00 you can meet the artist! Barb Schrieber from Waterloo will be in the shop with more of her artwork! You can ask her about her paintings and learn a lot about the fantastic art she has done! Yes, you can even purchase any of the paintings in the shop plus the ones she is bringing in! We will have a special wine tasting, some cheese & crackers and Zettie’s Confection’s Candy to sample!

Jerry Green from Koerner Distributors will be back in the shop on Wednesday, November 7th for a special tasting! We will be sampling some great wine and even a couple of their spirits! More details to come soon!
