Bastille Day tasting: Chateau Sylvain Raymond Graves white Bordeaux & Domaine Galevan Paroles de Femme Cotes du Rhone!

In the tradition of Bastille Day, we will taste two French wines as part of our celebrations of French culture!  Stop in for a taste and to help celebrate Bastille Day at Chateau La Vin!

Chateau Sylvain Raymond Graves white Bordeaux from France ($12 .99) –  The 2009 Chateau Sylvain Raymond is a white Bordeaux from the Graves Appellation.  French wine makers often do not display the blend of grapes on their bottles.  The Chateau Sylvain Raymond is no exception.  White Bordeaux wine can be a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle and Ugni Blanc.  Yes, some unfamiliar names!  This wine certainly has Sauvignon Blanc in it and I can taste a little of the Muscadelle too.  It is dry but fruity, crisp and leaves a delightful fresh impression on the palate.  A very refreshing wine!

Domaine Galevan Paroles de Femme Cotes du Rhone from France ($17.99) –  The 2007 Cotes du Rhone Paroles de Femme (meaning “words of a woman”). This sexy deep ripe full-bodied effort is a blend of 60% Grenache 20% Mourvedre and the rest equal parts Cinsault and Carignan. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by abundant amounts of Provencal typicity as well as roasted herb meat juice kirsch and black raspberry fruit notes.
