We now have a new cheese supplier!  Six new cheeses that go great with wine!  It’s Friday!  Let’s taste three reds wines and a white this evening!  Mark your calendars for our next big tasting!  On Wednesday, April 25th,  we will be tasting eight wines from Italy!

Schild Estate Barossa Shiraz from Australia ($24.99) – “An expressive Shiraz, bursting with dark plum and bright blueberry notes, joined by hints of roasted meat and spice. The finish rolls along with an airy, open texture that lets the flavors sail. Has depth and pinpoint balance. Drink through 2019.” – 92 Points Wine Spectator

Esenzia Old Vine Garnacha from Spain  ($15.99) – Color: Maraschino-red color with purple edges.  Nose: On the nose, dry red raspberry, cherry, red currant, smoke.  Palate: On the palate, fresh raspberry, bright red juicy fruit with great minerality and spice, good acidity, grippy tannins, medium body and a long finish.

Camp Viejo Rioha Tempranillo from Spain  ($10.99) – The 2010 Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo is a new offering of 100 percent tempranillo from Rioja’s largest wine producer.  Its spicy nose gives way to cherry and plum flavors on the palate, augmented by a touch of tobacco. A bit of sweet vanilla comes through on the smooth finish.

Pacific Rim Gewurtztraminer from Washington  ($12.99) – winemaker’s notes: Our 2010 Gewürztraminer is crafted from Washington grapes. We often put the juice and the grape skins in contact to extract and unleash the exquisite Gewürztraminer aromas locked in the skin. The juice is then cold temperature fermented over 20 days. We do not use any oak and do not put the wine through malolactic fermentation.  The wine is crisp with a slight residual sugar of 1.7% with flavors of lychee, melon and tangerine. Our Gewurztraminer is an exceptional match with spicy Indian food, lemon chicken and blue cheeses.

Cheese!

We have a new supplier of cheese and we received our first delivery today!  We have six new cheeses that pair great with wine.  In fact two of the cheese packages are a selection of three different cheeses matched perfectly, one for a red wine and another for a white wine!  We have two goudas, Vermont Cheddar and Herbs & Garlic Goat Cheese!   These are some fantastic tasting cheeses!
