Tuesday, February 14th is Valentine’s Day! Plan on starting your celebration here with some sparkling wine and special tasting! Going out for a special dinner? Want to really impress your Valentine with an extra special bottle of wine? Why pay $150 in a restaurant for a bottle when you can get a great bottle here, take it with you to the restaurant, pay the corkage fee and still save a lot of money. Restaurants mark up their wine significantly higher than retail shops. Most restaurants will allow you to bring your own wine in and pay a corkage fee to open it there. The corkage fee can run between $5 and $25 per bottle. Even with this corkage fee, you can save a lot of money and enjoy better wine. One great steakhouse in St. Louis for example has Decoy Cabernet for $52 per bottle and Camus Cabernet for $192 per bottle. I sell the Decoy Cabernet for $24.99 and The Camus Special Select Cabernet Sauvignon for $109.99. Even with a $20 corkage fee, you come out way ahead. Want to really get a special wine at a great price? Buy a bottle of the Newton Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot for $39.99. I have seen this bottle in restaurants for over $100. Still have some questions about bringing in your own bottle to a restaurant? Stop in and we can talk more about it.
