The big screen is ready and we have three great red blends to taste tonight! Get here early for the game and enjoy some wine or beer! Check out tonight’s tasting!
de Bardos Ars Mitica from Spain ($29.99) – 90% Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Ars Mítica is a modern, highly structured and complex Signature Series Wine created from exquisitely selected grapes. It is aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels. Only made from high quality vintages. Extremely limited production. Tasting: Cherry red with hints of purple. Highly intense, extremely complex bouquet, with red berries, balsamic notes afforded by the Cabernet Sauvignon, spices and chocolate. Powerful, structured and mature, although fresh and extremely long and persistent.
Rubus shiraz ($24.99) – A blend of 98% Shiraz & 2% Viognier, this richly concentrated Barossa Shiraz is indicative of the style for which Australia’s top production region is famous. The wine is dark in color, rich and dense. There are ample tannins balanced by the powerful fruit. You will note the hints of blackberries, mint, and eucalyptus flavors upfront and in the finish. Try Rubus Barossa Shiraz with rich dishes like lamb shank, Osso bucco, beef steak or roast duck. “Polished, supple and juicy, with red berry, black cherry, licorice and white pepper flavors, persisting nicely on the refined finish. Drink now through 2017.” – Wine Spectator (April 30th 2012), 90 pts.
Chakana Red ($34.99) – 60% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Shiraz. “Chakana’s top cuvee is their 2011 Estate Blend, which is 60% Malbec from the Agrelo vineyard and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Aged 10 months in French oak, this wine displays notes of toast, blackberries, sweet cherries and Asian plum sauce as well as notes of white chocolate and barrique. The wine has great fruit, an opaque purple color, medium to full body, and loads of glycerin, fruit and length. It will drink well for 7-8 years, possibly even longer, and it is a sensational value.” – Wine Advocate (Robert Parker, Issue 201, June 2012), 94 pts.
