09 Aug Help Wanted and Special French Wine Tasting!
Help Wanted at Chateau La Vin!
It is time to add another person to the staff of Chateau La Vin. I am looking for someone to work primarily on Saturday nights. Other nights will be available many weeks too. The person must be over 21. She or he needs to be good with customers, like wine and be willing to work hard to keep the shop running. The person does not need to be a wine expert, but willing to learn! Experience as a bartender or waiter/waitress is a plus too! If you know of anyone interested, please direct them to the shop or contact me by email (wine@chateaulavin.com) or phone (618) 281-8117.
Special Friday French Wine Tasting!
It’s Friday and I have three great French Wines to taste tonight! Hope you can make it in!
Clos Le Vigneau Vouvray ($23.99) – “The 2011 Clos Le Vigneau, from a more challenging vintage, is just as good. Aromatics of spring flowers, poached pears, honeyed melon and some buttered citrus jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, very pure, fresh and nicely concentrated wine, which is the epitome of a dry Chenin Blanc meant to go with a cornucopia of cuisines.” – Wine Advocate 91 pts.
Chapoutier Belleruche Rose ($18.99) – Belleruche Rose’s color is a light pink with salmon-pink highlights. This wine has aromas of red fruits, currant, raspberry and cherry. On the palate, the freshness is well-balanced and round. Mainly Grenache, then Cinsault and Syrah. The vineyards of “Belleruche” rosé are located on old fluvioglacial terraces, on the right bank of the Rhône.
Chateau De Malleret Haut-Medoc Bordeaux 2004 ($49.99) – I have had the 2003 & 2005. Both were great! Let’s see if the 2004 is as good. Garnet shade with rusty red hue. Earthy with overtones of leather & musk. Predominant aromas of ripe dark cherries & spicy French oak. Medium body, slightly high on acidity. Soft & smooth on the palate, with mellow tannin. Seamless transition, culminating in a spicy, soft & lingering medium length finish.
