Red Blends have become so popular that it is time for a special tasting of a few we have in the shop! Plus Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! We are also announcing a new event at Chateau La Vin! A Wine & Watercolors Painting Class! It should be a great time!
Today’s Tasting!
We have three great red blends to taste tonight! This is a great tasting that you won’t want to miss! For you white wine drinkers, we will have a selection of white wines open too!
Chateau Julien Royalty Red from California ($13.99) – This wine’s deep dark red hue, and rich purple edge is followed by a plum, jammy aroma reminiscent of freshly ripened fruit. Its mild, smooth tannins showcase a bit of oak aging, balanced with complexity through the finish. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah.
B Side Red Blend from California ($25.99) – In crafting the 2010 B Side Napa Valley Red Wine Blend, winemaker Greg Kitchens used 5 different varietals from over 7 sub-appellations. The wine opens with a heady bouquet of black cherries, dried plumbs, blackberries and peat moss. One’s first sip is greeted by a flavorful cacophony of black currants, dried blueberries, and Blackstrap molasses with hints of black pepper and toasted coconut emerging on the finish. This full-bodied wine is lush and rich with finely integrated tannins, yet it also shows impeccable balance. If Cabernet Sauvignon represents the “A” side of Napa Valley, then this artfully blended wine demonstrates just how great the “B” side can be. 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 16% Syrah, 11% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc.
McPrice Myers Beautiful Earth from California (38.99) – (80% syrah, 11% mourvedre and 9% grenache): Opaque purple. Complex scents of red and dark berries complemented by minerals, mint, anise and exotic spices. At once rich and focused, offering sweet raspberry and blackcurrant flavors, supple texture and strong mineral snap. This attractive sweet, precise blend finishes with strong cut and lingering notes of spices and flowers. 91 Pts. ST. 93 Pts. WA.
Valentine’s Day!
We are only one week away from Valentine’s Day! Stop in on Valentine’s Day for a special tasting that will include a free tasting of a nice sparkling wine! What: A fun evening with friends! Artist Barbara Schrieber, who’s artwork is hanging in Chateau La Vin, will be the instructor. The cost is $45 per person. Bring a Friend! This includes a pre-class wine tasting, cheese & crackers, Zettie’s Almond Butter Crunch Toffee and Cashew Brittle and all the painting supplies. At the end of the evening each person leaves with their own painting! The class requires no artistic skills. Don’t miss out on this great event! Space is limited.
