Our Friday tasting including an Albarino!

Tasting 5-10-13

La Cana Albarino from Spain ($19.99) – “Light yellow. Explosive aromas of tangerine, melon, peach pit and white flowers, with an exotic note of lemongrass emerging with air. Dry and nervy on the palate, offering lively citrus fruit and honeydew flavors and a bracing mineral quality. Shows impressive energy on the finish, which features chalky mineral and spice qualities.”  91 Points International Wine Cellar.

Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha from Spain ($19.99) –  “One of my favorite offerings from the Bodegas Borsao is the 6,000-case cuvee of the 2010 Tres Picos. Made from 100% Garnacha aged in equal parts stainless steel and French oak, this is the Bodegas Borsao’s interpretation of Chateauneuf du Pape. Deep notes of roasted herbs, sweet black cherries and raspberries, peppers and spice soar from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged wine. Full-bodied, rich, ripe, silky textured, pure and long, this is an unbelievable value.” 92 Pts. RP

Renwood Premier Old Vine Zinfandel from California ($19.99) – This wine has a nose of exotic spices and dried fruits. This classis old vine character also exhibits notes of lavender. On the palate full in body and very ripe the dark fruit on the first taste melds into mildly spicy fruit with a hint of roasted coffee towards the end. Overall this dusty and bold wine offers ample flavor.

Three great $20 wines to taste tonight.  The wine garden is open.  See you tonight.
