18 Jan Friday Tasting at Chateau La Vin!
What a beautiful Friday! It’s a great day to get out and enjoy some wine! Tonight we will be tasting three great wines!
Tonight’s Tasting!
Tonight’s tasting is from 6:00 – 8:00. Stop in and enjoy some great wine!
Pacific Rim Sweet Riesling from Washington ($12.99) – The Washington grapes that we choose for the Sweet Riesling are picked riper than the grapes for the dry Riesling. We use a small amount of yeast to encourage the fermentation to stick — or keep it from becoming completely dry. We ferment at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Like our Dry Riesling, this is another no oak, no malolactic wine. To stop the fermentation we use our centrifuge, which separates the yeast and the wine… this concludes the fermentation. We leave a good amount of carbon dioxide in the wine to create a lively feeling to the wine — although it’s not spritzy. The resulting wine is moderately sweet and refreshingly low in alcohol — less than 9% — with flavors of pineapple and peach. Our Sweet Riesling brings perfect balance to all fiery fare — especially Thai, Szechwan and Caribbean cuisine… or simply enjoy as an aperitif.
Aquinas Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from California ($19.99) – “Intriguingly aromatic, this wine opens with bold notes of black raspberry, ripe black cherry, tobacco and the smoky toast of new French oak. A rich array of flavor follows ranging from blackberries and Mexican chocolate to cherry reduction sauce and even a hint of Herbs de Provence. The ripe, full fruit flavors are held in check by its moderate acidity and hearty tannins resulting in a beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with a toasty wood finish.” -The Winery
Thorn-Clark Shotfire Barossa Shiraz from Australia ($22.99) –
“Also outstanding, is the 2010 Shiraz Shotfire. Dark ruby/purple, with notes of roasted coconut, graphite, damp earth, blackberry and cassis, this perfumed wine hits the palate with a thunderous richness from the glycerin and dense fruit. Quite sexy, stunning, with some structured tannin in the finish, this wine should drink well for another 5-7 years.” The Wine Advocate. 90 Pts. RP, WS & WE!
