Three new wines for our Friday tasting!
We have three new wines to taste tonight that will go great with your Memorial Day Barbeque.
De Angelis Lacrima Christi del Vesunio from Italy ($21.99) – Winemaker Angelo Valentino coaxes all the mineral and fruit he can out of his vines. The result is a fresh, floral, slightly yeasty aroma and flavor that will make you cry tears of joy. It is no coincidence that the name of this wine translates to “the tears of Christ from Vesuvius.” Legend has it that as Lucifer was cast from Heaven, he grabbed a small piece of paradise on his fall to earth. That chunk formed what is now the Bay of Naples, Campania’s capital. The Lord mourned over this “stolen” piece of heaven and cried tears that rained down on Mount Vesuvius. Rubus Rose from Spain ($17.99) – 100% Prieto Picudo. Prieto Picudo is a red grape varietal grown around the town of Valdevimbre, in the province of Leon in Spain. Bright clean strawberry rose color. In nose it is intense and fresh, with strawberry aroma and slight citric hints. In mouth it is fresh, strong and tasty emphasizing a delightful tingle due to its carbonic residuals.
McCay Cellars Zinfandel from California ($20.99) – A soft and elegant Zinfandel with hints of raspberry, black cherry and hazelnut. Balanced through the palate with a lingering finish that deserves time just to sit. Soft tight-knit tannins with wonderful oak treatments in 21% new French oak.
Wine & Watercolor Painting Class!
Our next Wine & Watercolor Painting Class is Wednesday, May 29th. Space is still available, but it is filling up. A fun evening with friends! Artist Barbara Schrieber, who’s artwork is hanging in Chateau La Vin, will again be the instructor. The cost is $45 per person. Bring a Friend! This includes a pre-class wine tasting, cheese & crackers, Zettie’s Confections and all the painting supplies. At the end of the evening each person leaves with their own painting.
