Today’s Tasting! It’s almost the Weekend!

It’s Thursday!  The weekend is almost here.  Let’s get a head start this evening!  We have two new wines to taste today from Brassfiled Estate Winery in California!

Brassfield Estate Winery Pinot Grigio from California ($15.99) – The fruit for our 2010 Pinot Grigio comes from two vineyard blocks on the valley floor of our High Serenity Vineyard. Both of these blocks are comprised of gravelly, sandy loams and are located in one of coolest vineyard sites in all of Lake County.  The 2010 Pinot Grigio is a medium body wine with flavors and aromas of passion fruit, plantains, coconut, wet stone and lemon custard. There is a vivid mineral quality to the wine and it has a rich and elegant mouth feel. The wine is a perfect accompaniment to foods with heat and spice or poolside all by itself.

Brassfield Estate Winery Zinfandel from California ($21.99) – The two and a half acre vineyard that bears this fruit is located above 2000 feet on the eastern edge of High Valley Appellation, along the base of Round Mountain Volcano. The combination of high elevation and extremely porous soils both limit production while extracting profound quality and flavor.  The 2009 Zinfandel is a concentrated wine that is rich, ripe and round. It has aromas of blackberry pie and black cherry, with undertones of oak, which expands into a wine that has plush tannins with jammy fruit essences that linger on the finish.
