17 Aug Today’s tasting and Parade Tomorrow!
By special request, we are tasting a couple of sweet wines today along with a good Zinfandel! Don’t miss the Colombia Daze Parade tomorrow at 5:00! Watch it at Chateau La Vin!
Today’s Tasting!
La Pinetta Moscato D’Asti ($19.99) – Bouquet: Irresistibly fresh, with a hint of mandarin orange. Taste: A wine that surprises by its remarkable freshness and brilliant fruit flavors reminding fresh peach and pair. Pairings: With its outstanding balance and light sparkle this traditional dessert wine, is almost more appropriate as an aperitif or a refreshing splash with brunch. This was the first Moscato to receive the top quality designation DOCG in Italy. It’s not your typical Moscato!
Carl Reh Sweet Red ($11.99) – Carl Reh Dornfelder Sweet Red Wine has aromas of cherry and blackberry and just a hint of spice. Dornfelder is Germany’s native red wine grape and gives the wine a wonderfully deep red color.
Brassfield Estate Winery Zinfandel from California ($21.99) – The two and a half acre vineyard that bears this fruit is located above 2000 feet on the eastern edge of High Valley Appellation, along the base of Round Mountain Volcano. The combination of high elevation and extremely porous soils both limit production while extracting profound quality and flavor. The 2009 Zinfandel is a concentrated wine that is rich, ripe and round. It has aromas of blackberry pie and black cherry, with undertones of oak, which expands into a wine that has plush tannins with jammy fruit essences that linger on the finish.
