Three new wines to taste today!

Today we are tasting Tarima Monastrell, Claude Val Rose & Andeluna Torrontes!

What a beautiful day in Napa!  It’s 69 degrees right now with a high of 78 today!  Too bad we are stuck here in this 105 degree heat!!!  Well, it is still 70 degrees inside at Chateau La Vin!

Three New Wines to Taste!

Tarima Monastrell from Spain ($14.99) –  This is the first vintage of this wine; the 2009 Tarima is 100% Monastrell sourced from 25-35 year old vines and raised in stainless steel with lees stirring. Medium crimson-colored, the nose reveals fragrant blueberries and underbrush. Firm on the palate with plenty of savory fruit, it is meant for drinking over the next 3 years.  The image of the passion flower was chosen for Tarima because the blossom never ceases to amaze and entice people around the world.  The vivid colors and complex structure draws you in for a closer look; just as the color and aromas of this wine attract your attention.

Claude Val Rose from France ($17.99) – 40 percent grenache, 30 percent cinsault, 30 percent syrah.  The three grapes contribute to this wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, Claude Val Rosé.  It has flavors of a red wine without being heavy and oppressive.  The dry wine features notes of strawberries and fresh herbs.

Andeluna Torrontes from Argentina ($16.99)  –  “The 2011 Andeluna Torrontés is a bold, confident take on the always fruity Torrontés.  The nose features strong tropical notes and fruit highlighted by fresh peach.  The gulp was a pleasant surprise as freshness balanced out some strawberry and citrus.  I wouldn’t consider any Torrontés that I have tried to be dry, relative to typical Torrontés it was on the dryish side.  The wine also showed some mineral tastes.  Think of how balanced Sauvignon Blanc is made, and it will give you an idea of how this wine was elaborated.  The wine was full of life, teeming with flavor and very satisfying in a slightly guilty pleasure way.”  By bottledj on August 6, 2011

Come in, get out of the heat and taste some great wine!
