For today’s tasting we have a great mix of four wines from all over the world! Stop in for a taste! Next week starts our one year anniversary celebration! It is a busy time at Chateau La Vin!
Today’s Tasting!
Gerard Bertrand Minervois from France ($17.99) – Syrah/Carignan blend. The nose is loaded with garrigue aromas, mostly rosemary and dried bay leaf, lifted by vibrant black cherry and black berry jam. Licorice and spice unfold in the chewy mouth, with a decadent milk chocolate infused finish. 89pts. WE!
Urban UCO Malbec-Tempranillo blend from Argentina ($19.99) – 91 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – “The 2011 Urban Uco is a blend of 50% Tempranillo and 50% Malbec that spent 3 months in oak. Deep purple in color, with an inviting bouquet of smoke, blackberry, and blueberry, on the palate it is loaded with flavor, depth, and length. This stunning overachiever may be the finest value in my Argentina tastings. Buy it by the case. (12/ 2011)”.
Santa Barbara Winery Chardonnay from California ($18.99) – In the glass the chardonnay displayed a light golden tint which indicated some oak barrel fermentation. Bright fruit notes of apricot, peach, green apple, and nuances of pineapple and vanilla emerged from the glass providing an aromatic and perfumed experience. On the palate, the wine was a dry, moderately flavored wine with a ripe fruit profile and lingering warmth. The ripe flavors of tropical fruit such as apricot and pineapple and the warmth caused by the alcohol level were characteristic expected from a wine native of Santa Barbara County which is a wine growing area with abundant sunshine and warm weather conditions.
Carl Reh Moscato from Italy ($11.99) – “This deliciously sweet and spicy white wine has mouth-watering aromas of muscat and honey. This wine is an ideal accompaniment with spicy Asian cuisine or luscious deserts.”
Chateau La Vin Turns One!
October 14th is our one year anniversary and we are planning a weekend celebration starting next Thursday! Every day we will be tasting one of our better bottles of wine! On Sunday the 14th, I will open the 3 Liter bottle of Peter Lehmann’s Layer’s wine! Joe Boccardi’s 20th anniversary is October 11th so we are going to work together to have a great celebration! I’ll have more details for you soon.
