03 Mar Saturday Tasting and Tuesday’s Tasting with Kysela Importers!
It is a beautiful sunny Saturday! A great day to get out and enjoy some wine. Today we will be tasting Viu Manent Reserva Malbec and Charles Krug Sauvignon Blanc!
Viu Manent Reserva Malbec from Chili ($17.99) – This wine gives a very nice array of notes from chocolate dust, black pepper, fennel and cedar forest; completely satisfying as the notes meld so harmoniously together.
Charles Krug Sauvignon Blanc from California ($19.99) – We tasted this wine about a month ago and it was a big hit. I got some more in so I thought I would open it again today for those of you who missed it last time. Charles Krug’s signature style Sauvignon Blanc with a eclectic array of fresh aromas giving the wine a beautiful bouquet of honeydew, peach skin, lemon grass and pear. Flavors of stone fruit and apricot balance seamlessly for a vibrant texture and crisp acidity. Just a hint of minerality rounds out the finish of this refreshing wine.
Stop in for a taste!

While his passion lies with the wines of southern France, Jeremy loves and appreciates wine in all its forms, origins and uses. He works to provide the thirsty, curious public with wines that both stay true to their indigenous character and are simply delicious to drink, from $10 to $100. There is nothing he enjoys more than providing people with a good bottle of juice.
Kysela Importers are the 2011 Wine Enthusiast’s Importer of the Year!
Robert M. Parker, Jr.’s THE WINE ADVOCATE, Issue 105 had this to say about Kysela Importers: “Fran Kysela, unlike most Americans, was born into a family that consumed and appreciated fine wine. One of the youngest specialty importers, Kysela began his career as the national sales manager for the import arm of Kermit Lynch’s sprawling wine business. Subsequently, he worked briefly for another high quality importer, Weygandt-Metzler in Unionville, Pennsylvania. Inevitably, Kysela founded his own firm, dedicated to discovering high quality top estates in France and Italy [and Portugal].
Kysela’s offerings all tend to be extremely pure, ripe, fruity wines…in short, faithful reflections of their appellations. He is not an aggressive interventionalistic importer à la Robert Kacher (or to a lesser extent, Neal Rosenthal, Eric Salomon, or Peter Weygandt), but neither does he permit his producers to take a laissez-faire approach to their work. In a few short years Kysela has emerged as one of the finest palates and selectors of top wine, whether it be an inexpensive Muscadet or a top of the line Burgundy.”
