Today’s Tasting!

Tasting 12-29-12

Zonin Cuvee 1821 Prosecco from Italy (750ml & 187ml) – Wine Enthusiast “An enjoyable bubbly with good creamy froth, white peach, mineral and hard candy tones that are nicely balanced and spread throughout. It has a thick consistency and a snappy, crisp close.”   Color – Bright pale straw-yellow; a fine, clear mousse with a very delicate perlage. Bouquet – Attractively intense; very fruity and aromatic, with hints of wisteria flowers and Rennet apples.  Flavor – Very well-balanced and appealing, with the extremely delicate almond note that is typical of Glera grapes.

Wilson Creek Almond Champagne from California – This gold-medal winning champagne is also referred to as the “OH MY GOSH” champagne. This white sparkling wine is naturally fermented, with just a hint of pure almond added so it’s guaranteed to dazzle your guests. A must-have champagne to make any occasion extra special. Great with desserts, cuddling, hot tubs, picnics, fireplaces, brunches, and parties.

Tasting 2 for 12-29-12

Rainstorm Pinot Gris from Oregon – “This is the first release from Rainstorm, part of the expanding Mariani Family presence in the Pacific Northwest. It’s bone dry, immaculately fresh, and leesaged, with lovely depth and finesse. Flavors of melon and cucumber dominate, and the crisp acidity offers bracing minerality. Best Buy.” 90 Points Wine Enthusiast.

Chateau Jourdan Bordeaux Superieur from France – The 2005 Vintage was one of the best of all time for the Bordeaux region of France.  Wine Spectator gave the vintage 99 Pts!  Chateau Jourdan is 60% Cab Franc, 35% Merlot & 5% Cab.  Beautiful deep color, a shimmering ruby. Very pleasant nose, ample, referring to the cassis, blackcurrant and ripe cherry. On the palate, the wine reveals smooth and finely structured. Its final accents of ripe black fruit, extends nicely.
