29 Aug It’s Hump Day! Special Italian Tasting on Thursday!
Half way through the week and Labor day weekend is almost here! Does it still seem a ways off? Well stop in Chateau La Vin for a glass of wine tonight to make the week go faster!
Travel has kept the Jazz Group from being able to play this Thursday. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have a special Italian Wine Tasting!
Italian Wine Tasting Thursday with a Magnum!
We have a great lineup for Thursday night! Here is what we will be tasting!
Angioletta Moscato from Italy ($12.99) – This semi-sweet and slightly effervescent wine tickles your taste buds like the gentle caress of an Angel’s wing. The flavors sing to all your sense with delicate fruit flavors of peach and apricot, with a touch of honey.
Soave Classico Capitel Tenda from Italy ($19.99) – The 2009 Soave Classico Capitel Tenda is quite pretty and understated in its white peaches, flowers, almonds and mint. This fresh, perfumed Soave is an excellent choice for drinking over the next year or two. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2013. Robert Parker 88pts.
Sasyr Sangiovese & Syrah from Italy ($19.99) – Nearly opaque, dark garnet in colour, aromas of sweet violet and damp earth pushed up out of my glass. Fruity cherry and plum flavours were fortified by smooth, supple leather notes in the medium body. The brief finish displayed zippy white pepper sprinkled with hints of earthy dried thyme. Easy drinking and straightforward, this is a soft, simple glass that can be enjoyed on its own or with a meal.
I Tre Vescovi Barbera d’Asti from Italy ($18.99) – A wonderful Barbera from VVS, “The Three Bishops” is a testament to the quality of this winery, and at a wonderful price. A step up from Kroara, this Barbera from the smaller Asti zone is both fruit forward and pleasing, and complex. A very nice wine to enjoy with meat or mushroom based pasta sauces, or with a plate of mature cheese.
Rocca Delle Macie Chianti Classico from Italy Magnum ($34.99) – A lot of you have looked at this bottle and wanted to taste it. So for this special tasting I have decided to open the Magnum and let you all try it for yourself! “This bright, ruby and garnet-colored Chianti Classico offers integrated acidity and finely polished tannins backed by a pretty bouquet of fresh berry aromas.” – Wine Enthusiast
We will start the tasting on Thursday about 6:00 p.m. Recorded Jazz will be playing! Let’s keep the Thursday night tradition going at Chateau La Vin!
