25 May It’s Hot and It’s Friday!
The traditional start of summer is sure starting out with a bang! It’s hot outside, but it’s cool in here at Chateau La Vin! It was a nice night of Jazz last night and it even cooled off enough for many to enjoy the new wine garden! Hopefully it will cool off again tonight. Either way, we have will be tasting some great wine inside!
Mettler Family Vineyards Old Vine Zinfandel from California ($24.99) – The Mettler 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel is a wine that is full of personality and shows it off with its refined core of luscious, lively flavors. Pleasing aromas of dark cherry, candied apple and toasty oak offer a hint of minerality. Bold and intense, yet complex wild berry, ripe cherry and plum flavors are balanced by a smoky note of espresso and exotic spice. The soft-edged tannins are kept bright and juicy by a pleasing seam of acidity while the flavors build richness and concentration on the finish, leaving you with a pleasant hint of vanilla-scented oak along the way. This wine packs a lot of flavor, yet manages to hold a measure of finesse and grace. A variety cuisines, from hearty stews to grilled favorites, will stand up nicely to this rich and flavorful Zinfandel.

The Sauvignon Blanc: Color – Light straw. Aroma – Aromas of pear and citrus. Taste – Bright acidity matched with flavors of Meyer lemon and a hint of white peach
Cosecha Tardia Late Harvest Chardonnay from Argentina ($12.99) – In honor of Chardonnay day, (Which was actually yesterday and I missed it!) and with the hot weather I wanted to bring back this wine for those of you who have not had a chance to taste it. Harvested late in the season, the Cosecha Tardia (or Late Harvest) is bright golden yellow in color. Aromas of flowers and peaches on the nose give way to a palate with pleasant acidity and balanced tannins. Excellent in the mouth, nice acidity, pleasant finish and a little sweet!
La Passione Grand Dessert Sweet Red Wine from Italy ($12.99) – Many of you liked the Sweet Pink Wine from this winery so I wanted to give everyone a chance to taste the sweet red. “La Passione is a sweet, lightly sparkling wine that is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Made mostly of the Brachetto grape, it has aromas of raspberries and strawberries. Particularly enjoyable when poured over fresh berries and topped with whipped cream and can also be enjoyed with fresh fruit tarts and wild berry sorbet. Serve chilled.”
