Come on in out of the rain and taste some great wines!

It looks like we are in for rain most of the day.  If you are looking for a cozy and relaxing place today, come on in to Chateau La Vin for some great wine!  We are tasting three red wines and one white wine.

Yard Dog Blend from Australia ($14.99) – This offbeat Australian wine is made from Bordeaux grapes in unusual proportions: It’s 55% Petit Verdot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. Very dark garnet in color, it’s almost black at the center, clear violet at the edge. Intense fruit aromas, blackberries, blueberries and plums. Ripe and juicy fruit carries over on the palate, balanced by soft but sufficient acidity and a hearty whack of 15% alcohol, perceptible more as texture than heat.

Vina Alicia Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina ($19.99) – Harvest: By hand, in 20K plastic cartons, in order to preserve the grapes from breaking up or other damages harmful to the grape. Harvest is performed between March 25th and April 5th of each year. Processing: Fermentation is done in steel tanks : Continuous Remontage and Pissonier is performed, in order to obtain softer tannins and great color. The second fermentation is also performed in steel tanks and the rest in French oak barrels. The wine is then transferred to French oak barrels, where it is aged for 8 months, in order to obtain more clarification, and improving its color. Bottling: Is done after a mild filtering over natural earth,in order to eliminate any impurity.  Tasting notes: Intense dark color. with a raspberry-like aroma and a complexity associated with this noble grape. Fresh, well-balanced, with gobs of dark fruit, great acidity, and mature tannins, unctuous and elegant. In the mouth it is profound and round, fleshy, with soft but potent tannins.

Maipe Reserve Malbec from Argentina ($19.99) –  “The 2010 Malbec Reserve spent 12 months in French oak. Cedar, Asian spices, incense, cherry cola, and assorted black fruits set the stage for a spicy, concentrated, layered Malbec that offers excellent value. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. ” 90 Points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.

Amberhill Secret Blend White Wine from California ($12.99) –  The floral notes of our 2010 White Wine lift lightly from the glass and intermingle aromatically with scents of orange blossom, jasmine and rose petal. On the palate, this refreshing wine offers flavors of honeysuckle, pineapple and Fuji apple with slight hints of melon and guava. A balanced acidity contributes to a lush, round mouth-feel and leads to a lasting, vibrant finish.  What is the blend?   Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it’s a secret!
