05 Oct A Cold Rainy Friday! A Great Day to Taste Port!
Days like this are made for Port Wine! Today we will be tasting a true Port and an Italian Red! Stop in for a taste today, especially after the Cards win! If the weather clears up, there will be music on the wine garden with Boccardi’s tonight (Friday) & tomorrow (Saturday) night!
Today’s Tasting!
Warre’s Warrior Reserve Port Wine from Portugal ($27.99) – WARRIOR is the oldest brand of Port in the world, having been shipped continuously since the 1750’s. The name Warrior was branded on the casks of Warre’s finest Reserve Ports since the earliest days of the firm. The traditional style has been maintained over the years and it is today a classic full-bodied wine with wonderful richness and balance. Warrior is drawn from Quinta da Cavadinha and Quinta do Retiro Antigo, Warre’s finest quintas in the Pinhão and Rio Torto valleys that produce Warre’s classic Vintage Ports. The firm’s head winemaker, Peter Symington, selects lotes of particularly rich and fruity Reserve Port to set aside for maturing in oak casks in the lodges at Vila Nova de Gaia. When the wines have reached perfect maturity, they are bottled to produce the award-winning Warre’s Warrior, one of the finest Ports available for everyday drinking!
Kroara Barbera from Italy ($11.99) – This wonderful wine is truly amazing, especially when considering the price. Attractive and bright ruby red, with a fresh and fruity nose. Lots of fruit up front, with a lively palate and a fresh, clean finish. A spectacular value from this Barbera specialist.
